Start, Stop, Continue Template

Start, Stop, Continue is a great activity to use at the end of a team meeting, team retrospective, project end, or in general, during a team alignment session.

What is Start, Stop, Continue?

In Start, Stop, Continue, you’ll run three anonymous polls to ask your team what you should start doing, what you should stop doing, and what you should continue doing.

You can either run the activity on its own as a team-alignment exercise, or you can run it at the end of a larger meeting or workshop as a way to debrief and plan next steps.

How it works

Run the three anonymous, open-ended polls in this order:

  • What should we START doing as a team?
  • What should we STOP doing as a team?
  • What should we CONTINUE doing as a team?

You can use the two-minute timer for each poll so that everyone can see how much time is left.

Briefly debrief any answers that need more attention, before launching the next poll.
