How to run an awesome weekly team meeting
It’s horrifyingly easy for weekly team meetings to devolve into time-wasting status updates. Nobody wants to see that tired grid of faces, totally checked out, listening to the boss speak for an hour.
So how can you make your meetings awesome?
- Make space for personal talk: Connecting as people first gives you time to connect as co-workers.
- Use a recurring agenda: Using a repeatable structure ensures everyone knows what to bring to every meeting. You can create a Butter room with this meeting agenda template to keep the same meeting structure every time!
- Collaborate on the agenda: If the recurring agenda isn’t working for you, work as a team to modify it for the better.
- Keep everyone engaged: Build in space for people to contribute or use Butter’s engagement features to keep people sharp.
- Be consistent: Don’t skip out on your weekly meetings because things are too busy. You never know when someone on your team might need the space to share roadblocks or challenges they’re having.
Objectives of a weekly team meeting
Your weekly meetings should allow you to:
- Connect as real people
- Celebrate your team’s wins
- Raise roadblocks and concerns
- Highlight top priorities
- Give each team member space to share
- Agree on next steps
